As a team, we created a series of Morning Meetings which promote kindness and acceptance.

Here's our PowerPoint from the AISGW conference: Kindness_Presentation.ppt

Unit Goals

Days 1-2: Heroes of Kindness from around the world - non-violence focus

Days 3-4:  No Name-Calling

Day 5:  Making a Personal Plan For Acceptance - Mix It Up Day!  (Initiative from Teaching With Tolerance) - enjoying lunch with someone outside of your "clique"

This session will outline a short unit on kindness and accepting differences that was created for Grace Episcopal Day School.  It was created as a series of five morning meetings focusing on accepting and celebrating the differences in others around the world and in our own personal experiences.  Lessons of similar content and focus were created at three grade level groupings: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.  All students participate in these discussions and activities in their classrooms with their teachers at an appropriate level and the week's culminating activity is a school-wide "Mix It Up" Lunch - an initiative from Teaching With Tolerance - to promote student relationships beyond their cliques.
